Hit the RESET to elevate your mood and emotions!
Once in a while, you might get “stuck in the muck.” Maybe an event or crisis preceded this down-low feeling, but maybe not.
We all have times that we drop into low-energy, low-vibration emotions – sadness, anger, frustration, disgust, or apathy where you might even feel out of control. It’s a dark, and sometimes scary, place to be.
The interesting thing is that, if you’re honest with yourself, you might not even want to come out of it. You might like to stew in it a while and feel those crappy emotions. You’ll make lists in your mind of all the reasons you can and should be feeling bad. You might replay a scene over and over again and recycle that negativity, keeping that downward spiral going a bit longer.
Sometimes you just have to give it some time.
Go ahead and be like the pig in the mud and enjoy rolling around in it a while if you want, but when you’re ready to come out of it, you’ll need a strategy.
It’s AWARENESS that hits the reset button!
When you realize that you’re saying in your mind, “I’m so mad, I’m so sad, I’m so frustrated,” or anything similar, the awareness is rising.
Oh, there is so much power in the I AM statement!
The awareness of how you’re feeling is how you can start to level up.
You don’t level up quickly like turning on a light switch but you can begin the process of intentionally elevating your mood and energy knowing you’ll start feeling better soon.
How do you hit the RESET to elevate your mood?
You have been blessed with senses that influence your thoughts immediately. This is powerful because thoughts influence emotions, then emotions influence actions.
Influence your thoughts by controlling your sensory input.
What am I talking about?
Vision: When you SEE something beautiful like a sunset, a baby (animal or human), a body of water, you are filled with a sense of awe and wonder
Hearing: When you turn on happy music, you are uplifted. When you hear a familiar tune, you can’t help but hum or sing along. When you hear birdsong or water rippling, you are elevated.
Touch: When you hug or gently touch another being (animal or human) you feel better. Massage is magical.
Smell: Freshly cut grass, flowers and essential oils are high-energy tickets.
Taste: Savoring a flavor is amazing and uplifting – BUT if you are working on releasing weight – THIS cannot be one of your tools because it will make you feel good – until you feel BAD again. It would be too much of a good thing.
You have God within you, and you have the gifts of your senses to use as tools to elevate your mood and emotions.
When you hear yourself saying, “I AM” followed by… angry, mad, pitiful, sad, disgusted, frustrated, unlovable, or ANYTHING negative, go to your gifts – your senses.
Change your sensory input to start bringing back the sanity and uplifting yourself once more.
Turn off the television. Don’t listen to or watch the news. Get out of the house to the beautiful outdoors. Smell an essential oil, turn on happy music, move your body, pet the dog or cat, or hug someone.
In summary, it’s this simple… If you want a RESET to get out of the muck, use your God-given tools – your senses – to get your own sense back again.
